CB Radio Repair
History

My story starts back in the late 60's (1960's) or as my daugther would say "do you mean 1860's!"
I would say to her, "no I'm talking when the dinosaurs roamed the earth." (we'd both get a laugh from that). Sometimes I feel as thou I am a dinosaur because of the equipment I work on. Old or new I work on them all.

I went to electronic school directly after graduating high school, the school was called ETC (Electronic Training Center) located in Allentown, PA.The school specialized in communication equipment.
During our last semester at ETC many companies came to recruit some of us hot shots (or so we thought).
I along with several others agreed to go to IBM in New York. This is where we found out what we really didn't know about electronics. With IBM's training and on going educational programs I finished my Associates degree and then a Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering.

Part of my career at IBM I worked on repairing test equipment and communication equipment. After many years with IBM I decided to start my own business (part time in the beginning) repairing communication equipment, satellite receivers, TV's and of course radios.

When the time came I retired from IBM (the first retirement part of this story) and started to work full time at my own repair business this was in 1992 (called Hi - Tech Repair, Inc.)

After about a year, my wife came into the business to help run it (what a great help she was and still is to this day). The two of us continued this business until 2003, at which time we decided to move north to be closer to our daughter (the second retirement part of this story). In November of 2003 we closed Hi - Tech Repair, Inc. at our Montgomery, NY location and moved to our farm in Central New York.

Now the interesting part, I received a phone call from my best friend Richard Musa aka (Bladerunner) from Bladerunner Knife store. During that conversation he mentions several folks are coming into his store asking whatever happen to the radio shop that was next door, he tells them I retired. Then after a few discussions the two of us agree to work together, Bladerunner the salesman for the radios and
myself the repair tech. From 2004 thru 2008 we worked very well together. In March of 2008, Bladerunner passed away. We miss him dearly.

After awhile Mrs. Bladerunner (Richard's wife) reopened the Bladerunner knife store, which she continues to run today. If you are traveling past exit 5 I84 in southern New York stop at Bladerunner Knife store and say hello.

It is now 2009 and I decided to try my hand on the Internet and get the word out that I am continuing to repair CB radios and 10 meter radios, under a new name ........... Retired CB Tech.
So there you go that is my story!

Thanks for reading.
George  ...... a retired CB radio tech

Oh by the way do you remember our dog (Cleo) this is a picture of her, she is still resting on a chair and having lots of fun here on the farm.
I know what the the next question is ............ Cleo is 14 this year.
